Superyacht Spotter, an App designed to turn your iPhone (or iPad) into a superyacht resource with features to enhance the Superyacht spotting experience, has now been released by Carl Brandes. Superyacht Spotter enthusiasts from around the world can add photos and report geographical locations of the yachts. Dubai Maritime City (DMC), a hitech facility providing maritime services, has signed a yacht manufacturing workshop lease agreement with Vitmar Yachts. Vitmar plans to built superyachts from 35 to 72 meters in length. Vitmar Yachts is a new brand founded by Sheikh Tariq and Antonio Amatuzzo. The yard will use the help of several Italian designers and craftsman. "We are delighted to have reached this agreement with Vitmar as this would provide an impetus to our focus on catapulting the region on to the global yacht building map," said Drydocks World chairman Khamis Juma Buamim. All superyachts have air conditioning and refrigeration installations for provisions, making them subject to increasingly stringent regulations regarding the use of coolants. Heinen & Hopman Engineering has developed an ingenious new system, the replacement chiller, which can replace the existing onboard facilities with a new state-of-the-art cooling system without the need to make openings in the hull. Heinen & Hopman’s replacement chillers are designed and manufactured as a building package and suitable for transporting through the doors of a superyacht.
