Porto San Rocco, Italy

Situated in Muggia, close to Trieste, Porto San Rocco, is on the northern coast of Italy - a world-class marina for yachts up to 60m providing the ideal base for cruising the Adriatic Sea, Croatian and Slovenian Coast and Northern Coast of Italy

The warm colours and surrounding landscape of this part of Italy create the atmosphere of a traditional seafaring village, while the marina facilities and accommodation on offer are of the highest five-star level.

Porto San Rocco Marina offers much-needed berthing facilities for superyacht owners and operators in an ideal location for cruising the Istrian and Dalmatian coast from Italy.

Facilities include fresh water, electricity, broadband internet, cable TV, shower and laundry, grey and black water discharge and refuse disposal. 24 hour CCTV and night security staff are also in operation.

The Approach

The port is located in the Bay of Muggia, on the south side of the Gulf of Trieste, and near the border with Slovenia. The entrance is protected by a breakwater and the approach is straightforward. Contact the marina on VHF 74 on approach.

The regulations for entering Italy are very simple. Yachts must send a representative to a border police office showing the crew list and passports. Porto San Rocco has a border control office.

If arriving from an EU country, there is no requirement for custom clearance, however, if from a non EU Country (for example Croatia) it is normally required that visitors contact customs.

Yachts must also consider that a non EU flag boat will be granted 18 months temporary import in Italy. After this period the boat must leave for a non EU Country, unless the owner pays the VAT over the value of the boat. It is possible to visit Croatia and return in 24 hours and renew temporary import for another 18 months.
